The Serb List officially launched its campaign for the upcoming local elections, scheduled for October 12, at midnight on the promenade in North Mitrovica. Members of the Serb List, along with candidates for mayors and municipal councilors, gathered in front of the party headquarters, where a symbolic clock had been placed. When the clock struck midnight, party president Zlatan Elek addressed the crowd.

Elek stated that a vote for the Serb List is a vote for the future of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

“Behind us are three long and difficult years. Especially difficult for us in the north of Kosovo. We have all been eagerly waiting for this day to come. A day that marks the beginning of replacing Kurti’s illegal, false, and illegitimate mayors and his loyal followers. I believe we all know that the time has come to democratically, with a pen, liberate our four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and preserve all six municipalities south of the Ibar River. I also want you to remember everything Kurti did to try to stop us from taking part in the parliamentary elections. Remember how he labeled some so-called Serbs and said he regretted that they didn’t get more votes so they could join the government after those elections,” Elek said.

He reminded those present of the damage done by what he called “Kurti’s fake mayors.”

“Please, never forget the harm these false mayors of Kurti have caused us. That is why the time has come to respond to them with unanimous support for the Serb List. A vote for the Serb List is a vote for our future, a vote for our children, a vote to preserve all our municipalities, our villages, our hamlets, to preserve every family and every individual,” the Serb List president emphasized.

Speaking about the campaign ahead, Elek noted that a hard but just task awaits.

“I want you to know that in this election campaign we face a tough, large, and demanding task. But it is also the most honorable task. Because we know that we are fighting for our people, for survival and remaining on this land, and above all because we know we are fighting to serve this people,” he said.

Elek also underscored the importance of unity among Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

“I believe that united and determined, we can achieve victory. Only united can we preserve all six municipalities south of the Ibar and regain the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo. Only united can we reach freedom. That is why, in conclusion, I want to say that in light of everything mentioned above, the only right choice is to vote for the Serb List, under ballot number 170,” Elek concluded.

Serb List vice president Igor Simic stressed that this event officially marked the beginning of the campaign and invited all Serbs to join the Serb List at campaign rallies in the coming days.

A large number of Kosovo Police officers were present on the North Mitrovica promenade.

Immediately after midnight, Serb List campaign posters began appearing.

The Serb List will run in the upcoming local elections under ballot number 170.
