Afrim Hoti: The EU will call on both sides at the summit to begin implementing the Ohrid Agreement

Professor of International Relations at the University of Pristina, Afrim Hoti, assesses that the European Union, at the EU-Western Balkans Summit tomorrow in Brussels, will call on Pristina and Belgrade to turn to dialogue and implement the Ohrid Agreement reached last year.

"From a legal perspective, this agreement exists, which is why I expect that pressure will be applied on both sides at the summit to begin its implementation as soon as possible," Hoti told Kosovo Online.

He points out that for the Western Balkans region, the only option is integration into the EU and that all countries in this part of Europe are doing their best to meet the criteria for EU membership.

"The war between Ukraine and Russia is a clear signal, both for the EU and for the region, that the integration process needs to be accelerated. In this regard, I expect Europe to pressure the sides to meet the criteria as soon as possible so that the path can be opened and the final destination reached," Hoti emphasizes.
