Ali Ahmeti warns of a pan-Albanian uprising if KLA leaders are convicted in The Hague

DUI leader Ali Ahmeti has warned of a pan-Albanian uprising if the Special Court convicts the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). In an interview for Frontal, Ahmeti said that no one would be able to control an Albanian revolt if the Special Court in The Hague sentences Hashim Thaçi and others, Gazeta Express reports.

“It is more than true that no one can give guarantees that dissatisfied people — those who fought on the front with them, who shared good and bad times together — will remain calm. No one can give this guarantee. I cannot either — there may be groups that could gather to express their revolt, because this would not be a rebellion that anyone could control,” said the leader of the Albanian party from North Macedonia.

He added that the very indictment against the KLA is an insult to the Albanian nation, Gazeta Express reports.

“Accusing the KLA of being a joint criminal enterprise is an insult not to the army, but to the nation as a whole — not only to Kosovo, but to the entire Albanian nation,” Ahmeti said.
