Analysts: Kurti made a strategic mistake in Brussels, showed irresponsibility

Political analysts believe that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti made a strategic mistake at the last round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels, reports the Albanian Post.

"Kurti's public articulation of lies," according to his former associate and analyst Visar Imeri, shows his irresponsible behavior as a politician.

"I believe that Kurti's behavior at and after the meeting in Brussels was absolutely senseless and difficult to explain. On the one hand, Kurti rejected a document that was largely in line with what Kurti himself requested, and on the other hand, he accused the mediators, publicly lying about the development of such a serious and difficult process, such as the EU-mediated dialogue. All this turns into expensive bills for Kosovo," Imeri claims.

Kurti's presentation of the EU as one-sided in the dialogue is considered by Afrim Kasolli, a former MP of the Self-Determination Movement, to be a means of satisfying internal electoral passions and delaying the process, which, as he says, puts Kurti at odds with himself.

He points out that he agreed with the implementation of the Brussels-Ohrid Agreement.

Both EU High Representative Josep Borrell and Special Envoy for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak represent the Union, so considering that they are not neutral, according to Imeri, would mean that EU member states, including the United States, are taking sides from the outside.

According to Imeri, such a statement by Kurti is nothing more than his imagined situation, which is neither valid nor can be true.

"This is not the first time that Kosovo institutions make such childish mistakes. And last year they had the same accusations against the same people. Why don't they ask for their replacement? Therefore, Kurti says that the mediators are clearly on the side of Serbia, and at the same time calls for an increase in the intensity of the dialogue under the same mediation", says Imeri.

According to Kasolji, Kurti should, if there are objections about Lajcak's improper and unfair behavior towards Kosovo, send them to the EU structures in Brussels and also undertake to cooperate more with the Union through diplomatic channels, in order to seek a solution to that problem.

"Kurti should coordinate his activity with American diplomats, and not grandiosely call the American Secretary of State naive, or get involved in election campaigns in internal elections in that country, and waste time in forums without any great significance for the interests of Kosovo, just to fulfill his ideological passions as he did in North Macedonia", says Kasolli.
