Baraliu: The trial of former KLA leaders will have irreparable consequences for Kosovo
Constitutional law professor Mazllum Baraliu said that the court process in The Hague against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi would have irreparable consequences for Kosovo, Koha reports.
"I think there will be irreparable consequences. It will damage the image of Kosovo, our resistance, our war, and our people who are there, the main people of the KLA leadership. In general, it will have a negative impact on us in other processes, especially in the process of dialogue and integration which we have in the EU and Euro-Atlantic structures," Baraliu said in the show "Interaktiv" on KTV.
He said that the international community had not helped Kosovo after the war.
"Unfortunately, despite respecting the contribution made in 1999 with the bombing of genocidal, colonial forces that wanted to exterminate Kosovo, the international community has not helped much in the following actions. Kosovo has been mutilated and crippled in many ways. We were wronged in the demarcation with North Macedonia and in the demarcation with Montenegro. The Association was imposed on us, and now the Franco-German plan is imposed on us, which will also have irreparable consequences. In 23 years, we have not taken a single step towards integration. In Serbia, all our friendly countries invest hundreds of millions and billions of euros annually; tell me which factory or important school is built in Kosovo. These gentlemen are building a university in North Mitrovica. So we are neglected. It is not the right policy of the EU and the international community toward Kosovo. The course must be changed because the people have become aware," Baraliu said.
