Former KFOR Commander Erhard Buhler believes that Kosovo's membership in NATO will not happen without reaching a final solution to the issue of independence, while he sees the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities formation as an urgent need, Ekonomia Online reports.

In an interview on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Kosovo's declaration of independence, he said that membership in NATO should be the future for all Western Balkan countries, answering the question of his opinion on Kosovo's membership in NATO and what impact it would have.

"It will most likely happen only when a final political solution is found. Remember that we still have countries in NATO that have not recognized Kosovo. On the other hand, membership in NATO should be the future for all Western Balkans countries," he said.

Speaking about the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, Buhler emphasized that such an agreement was urgently needed, in order to continue further processes in the dialogue and preserve peace and stability on the ground.
