Citizens of Leposavic: We expect Hetemi to be removed and replaced by the person chosen by the people
Citizens of Leposavic expect that, after signing the petition, the "illegitimate" mayor of their municipality, Lulzim Hetemi, will be successfully removed. They call on their fellow citizens to support the fight for the dismissal of mayors in the four municipalities in northern Kosovo with their signatures, a struggle that "takes on a new and democratic dimension."
Local resident Milutin Miletic stated that citizens' interest was significant and expressed confidence that the petition would yield the ultimate result – the removal of Hetemi.
"This morning at 9 a.m., following the instructions of the EU and EC, the signing of the petition began, aiming to initiate the removal process of the mayor of Leposavic. I expect people to respond in large numbers, as you can see for yourselves that the response is quite significant and the interest is quite high. So, I invite all citizens who have the will and desire to come and contribute to this struggle, which is taking on a new and democratic dimension," Miletic said.
He reminded that citizens had attempted to express dissatisfaction through protests due to the imposition of Albanian mayors.
"We started that process through protests; however, we saw that it didn't have much effect. Unfortunately, now we have to respect the instructions that are prescribed, and I think this will result in the removal of the illegitimate mayor Hetemi," he emphasized.
Vladan Radovic, another resident, expects Hetemi to be removed and a new mayor, elected by the people, to take his place.
"We are signing the petition for the removal of the illegitimately appointed mayor in Leposavic. We expect a new mayor to be elected by the people, unlike the current one," he said.
