First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, International Economic Cooperation and Telecommunications of the Republic of San Marino, Luca Beccari, who he informed about the situation in Kosovo in light of the recent escalation caused by the authorities in Pristina.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dacic conveyed to Beccari the expectations "that Serbia's EU partners from the region exert influence on the temporary institutions in Pristina with the aim of de-escalation, and enabling the return of the lives of the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija to normal and safe flows".

"Belgrade, for its part, is doing everything in order to de-escalate in the shortest possible time," Dacic stated.

He pointed out that this year Serbia and San Marino were marking 20 years since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations and indicated that there was an agreement to look for evidence of much earlier contacts in the archives, even from the time of the former Yugoslavia, perhaps also the Kingdom of Serbia.

Minister Dacic thanked his colleague for the support of San Marino when it came to the selection of Serbia as the EXPO host.
