Political scientist Professor Dr. Marija Djoric has assessed for Kosovo Online that the Brussels dialogue had encountered a fiasco, causing the European Union to lose credibility as the primary mediator, and she added that the United States had already largely taken over the negotiating baton in this process, with "all eyes on them."

"The negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina have hit a dead end. We can say they have encountered a fiasco, which may indicate that the center of negotiations will be more focused on Washington because the US has created its 'offspring,' the so-called state of Kosovo," Djoric said.

She added that America would have to take a more active role in resolving the relations between Belgrade and Pristina in the future.

Djoric emphasized that someone now needed to "revive these negotiations."

"It seems that all eyes are on the US, which holds the most authority to influence the negotiating side of Kosovo Albanians. After Albin Kurti's explicit refusal to participate in any way in the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, we can see that negotiations under the EU's auspices no longer make sense. I would like to remind you that the negotiations had a genesis in the United Nations, which suited us best in terms of negotiating positions and was in line with international law. Unfortunately, the negotiations were then transferred to the European Union, and it seems to me that at this moment, all eyes are on the United States, which is a significant factor that will decide on this," she stated.

Djoric believes that the US has already largely taken on the role of the main supervisor in the negotiation process between Belgrade and Pristina.

"The US has largely already taken over the negotiating baton when it comes to the Belgrade-Pristina relationship, but I am sure that the EU will still participate in the dialogue in some way, even though it is losing credibility. It has shown that it is unable to conclude negotiations and realize the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities," Djoric concluded.
