Djuric: Support for KSF transformation into an army empowers the extremism of the Pristina government
Serbian Ambassador to the United States Marko Djuric responded to the statement by US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier, who said that the US supported the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into an army. He states that such support does not contribute to the dialogue, easing tensions, or the normalization of relations.
"Support for KSF transformation, phased or immediate, into a heavily armed military force, does not contribute to the dialogue process, defusing of tensions, or normalizing the relations in our region," Djuric wrote on the X platform.
He points out that KSF's transformation into a standing army runs directly against UNSC Resolution1244 and the Kumanovo Military-Technical Agreement.
"All this aside, supporting KSF transformation in this political moment in Kosovo only empowers and rewards an extreme government in Pristina driven by an ethno-nationalist agenda, under whose watch 11 percent of Kosovo Serbs have already left Kosovo. Dialogue remains the only way forward, and for it to have any success, we should not further encourage those who undermine it blatantly," Djuric added.
