The Special Envoy of the United States of America, Gabriel Escobar, stated today that Kosovo should lift the ban on the import of Serbian goods and that this was not only un-European but also an unnecessary escalation of tensions

Escobar, when asked by the journalists of Kosovo Online regarding the ban introduced by the Pristina government, said that there was no legal basis for such a move and that the ban should be lifted.

"That ban on goods and certain vehicles should be lifted. The EU believes that it is not only anti-European, preventing the movement of people and goods, but there is no legal basis for it either. The US fully supports the position of the EU. As for Prime Minister Kurti's criticism at the expense of KFOR, the US, and others regarding the case of the three Kosovo policemen, as I have already said, we will wait for the facts and for the investigation to be completed before making any statements," Escobar said.
