France has requested the urgent suspension of the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo to prohibit the use of the dinar, stating that a solution to this issue should be found within the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina led by the European Union.
In a statement from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is noted that official Paris is concerned about the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo, which came into effect yesterday, approving only the euro for cash transactions in that territory.
It is emphasized that this hastily and uncoordinated decision will have consequences for the daily life of the Serbian community in Kosovo, which largely depends on payments in Serbian dinars from Serbia.
"In the absence of alternative solutions to date, France calls for the urgent suspension of this measure to ensure a sufficient transitional period. We urge the Kosovo authorities to find a solution through negotiations within the dialogue led by the European Union," the statement added."
