Former US envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Richard Grenell said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is "creating unilateral chaos in the north and trying to divert the attention of the people of Kosovo from his disastrous economic policy".

Grenell stated on Twitter that Kurti violated the Brussels and Washington agreements.

"Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is creating unilateral chaos in the north and is clearly trying to divert the attention of the people of Kosovo from his disastrous economic policy. The Quint Ambassadors’ statement about postponing the elections is reactive, slow and weak. Kurti unilaterally violated the Brussels Agreement and the Washington Agreement. He rejected every American idea presented to him," he emphasized.

Grenell said the State Department needed to be more forceful in its condemnation of Kurti.

"The US State Department must become tougher on him. He continues to sow chaos. The people of Kosovo deserve better," he added.

According to him, American leadership is necessary in the dialogue.

"The government of Serbia must implement the Brussels and Washington agreements without delay. Just because Kurti is breaking those agreements does not give Serbia an excuse to stop complying with their commitments. We need U.S. leadership right now," Grenell concluded.
