Haxhiu and Kurti with Ukrainian journalists: Pristina has demonstrated its support through concrete actions

Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu, together with caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti, hosted Ukrainian journalists who have been in Kosovo since the first days of the conflict with Russia.

„On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, together with Prime Minister Kurti, we had the pleasure of hosting Ukrainian journalists who have been in Kosovo since the first days of Russian aggression. For them, Kosovo has become a temporary home, from where they have continued to report, write, speak and work for their country. Their presence on this day gives it special significance. In my address, I emphasized that, as the people of Kosovo, we know well what it means to leave your home without knowing when you will return. We know how much it means when others stand by you precisely when you need them most. And we know why, when freedom is threatened, it must be defended with everything we have“, Haxhiu wrote on Facebook.

She added that Kosovo had demonstrated its support for Ukraine through concrete actions, by joining sanctions against Russia, supporting Ukrainian citizens and journalists, as well as contributing in the field of defense by training Ukrainian soldiers and providing military aid packages.

„Our history is not the history of Ukraine, but it has taught us to recognize the human cost of war. That is why we have stood, and will continue to stand, with Ukraine, for its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the right of the Ukrainian people to decide their own future. Happy Independence Day to all Ukrainians! Glory to Ukraine“, Haxhiu said.

The Ukrainian flag, which had flown on the facade of a building in central Pristina since the beginning of the war in that country, was removed after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Belgrade stated that his country's position of not recognizing Kosovo remained unchanged.
