US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier said after the meeting between the Quint representatives and Prime Minister Albin Kurti that the countries of the Quint believed that it would be best if the newly elected mayors of municipalities in the north did not work from municipal buildings in the short term, Reporteri reports.

"We agreed that the situation should be de-escalated, but I don't know if I can say that there is an agreement on how that de-escalation will happen. The US believes, and I am talking about my colleagues, that the elected presidents of the municipalities in the north don't need to go every day to work. In fact, in the short term, we recommend that this does not happen," Hovenier said.

According to him, the US recommendation is that mayors do not work from municipal buildings, but from other buildings.

"Just as the government allowed them to take the oath in other buildings, in order to avoid conflicts, we also think that it is the right way to do so," Hovenier said.
