Hoxhaj: Given Kurti's approach to dialogue, I do not expect an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, nor mutual recognition
Former Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj said that with Prime Minister Albin Kurti's approach to dialogue, he did not expect an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
Hoxhaj stated on the Facebook social network that Kurti "allegedly shows himself strong in front of the Western partners and says that Serbia does not want an agreement".
"The visit of high representatives of the USA, the EU, Germany, France and Italy shows that Kosovo's strategic partners want the dialogue to enter a new phase, at a different speed in order to create momentum for an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia! But, when Kurti's views are listened to in public, it’s clear that he does not have clarity, determination, or clear goals regarding the results in the dialogue! He has made neither a serious commitment, nor a true commitment to the dialogue!", Hoxhaj said.
According to him, this is a policy of buying time and it is harmful for Kosovo.
"The USA, France, Germany, Italy together with the EU were a group of countries that make decisions about Kosovo, and the birth of Kosovo as an independent state would not have happened without their support. And the Euro-Atlantic future of Kosovo directly depends on them, as well as membership in the European organizations, the Council of Europe, NATO, the EU and beyond," he pointed out.
Hoxhaj added that "Kosovo's relationship with Serbia is difficult because of history, but also because of the hostile policy that Serbia still have towards Kosovo".
"Only in cooperation with Western partners can we conclude our citizenship with membership in the UN, where the dialogue should serve Kosovo and not Serbia! Why does Kurti need the trust of citizens, legitimacy and the position of prime minister if he does not have the courage, will and does not take any political action to close major issues such as the agreement on mutual recognition with Serbia?!" Hoxhaj stated in the post.
