Ibishi: The Bridge on the Ibar should be opened without politicization

Security expert Nuredin Ibishi told Kosovo Online that the opening of the main bridge on the Ibar is an overly politicized issue and that it should be opened by implementing the agreement reached in Brussels with the support of the citizens.

"Why shouldn't it be opened? Bridges should serve good cooperation between communities; there should be no more divisions. There is an earlier agreement from Brussels about opening the bridge that hasn't been implemented. Precisely for the improvement of relations and freedom of movement, why shouldn't it be a bridge of cooperation, instead of being a bridge that closes off communities?" Ibishi asks.

He says that the opinions of citizens he has heard are leaning towards supporting the opening of the bridge.

"So I see a good opportunity for it to finally open without politicization, with the support of citizens from both communities living in the northern and southern parts. The Brussels agreement exists; it just needs to be implemented within the given framework," stated Ibishi.
