Jevtic: Kurtaj's statement is no surprise—When you shoot at Serbs, you're not guilty
Dalibor Jevtic, the mayor of Strpce, stated that he was not surprised by Azem Kurtaj's denial of guilt for wounding Serbian children Milos and Stefan Stojanovic. Jevtic emphasized that Kurtaj and others like him believe there is no guilt when shooting at Serbs.
“Kurtaj’s statement at today’s hearing, denying his guilt for wounding Milos and Stefan Stojanovic, comes as no surprise to those of us living in Kosovo and Metohija. Azem Kurtaj and others like him believe that when you shoot at Serbian children, at Serbs, you are not guilty,” Jevtic wrote on his Facebook page.
He highlighted that an atmosphere has been created in Kosovo where Serbs are portrayed as criminals.
“The current regime in Pristina has fostered a societal atmosphere in Kosovo and Metohija where Serbs are seen as criminals. In my view, this policy, and everything Albin Kurti has done since coming to power, led to Azem Kurtaj coming to the predominantly Serbian municipality of Strpce on Christmas Eve in 2023 and shooting at Serbs carrying Christmas oaks. In the end, the blame for the injuries of Stefan and Milos will fall on us, the Serbs,” Jevtic pointed out.
He also noted that Kurtaj’s lawsuit against him was no coincidence.
“This lawsuit reflects the current conditions and the reality we Serbs live with in Kosovo. Azem Kurtaj not only denies guilt but also claims that I am at fault for daring to publicly speak about his attempted murder. Kurtaj and others like him take issue with Serbs, with the Serbian List, with the Serbian Christmas oak, and with anything Serbian. But what bothers them most is that we refuse to give up on life here!” Jevtic concluded.
