The mayor of Strpce, Dalibor Jevtic, assessed that tonight's session of the United Nations Security Council was very important, but he expected other diplomatic activities to continue, primarily with the aim of protecting the lives of the Serbs in Kosovo. Jevtic also spoke to Kosovo Online about his visit to the United States and participation in the National Prayer Breakfast.

"Firstly, I must say that the event for which I primarily visited the United States, the National Prayer Breakfast, was a good opportunity to discuss with representatives of the US administration, as well as various leaders from around the world. What is even more significant is that I had the opportunity to meet with congressmen on the sidelines of the event, as we informed the public, and these discussions in Congress were very useful because my interlocutors could firsthand hear about what is happening in these areas, what the position of a minority people in Kosovo and Metohija is, what decisions the regime in Pristina makes, and what the consequences of the decisions made by the Pristina regime are," Jevtic said.

He added that he had also discussed these topics with the State Department's Director for South and Central Europe, Colleen Hyland.

"In my conversation with her, I particularly analyzed the latest decision of the regime to abolish the dinar. And after those meetings, we could see a clear reaction from the State Department on that issue, as well as the reaction expressed by the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Hovenier. Meanwhile, my colleagues from the Serb List have met here in Pristina with Ambassador Hovenier and discussed this issue with him, all of which are a part of the activities we have as political representatives of the Serbs, to highlight the damage caused by this latest, as well as all other decisions. I want to remind everyone that in addition to these raids and closures of temporary organs in Gora, Istok, Pec, and Klina, there was previously in March and July 2022 a raid and closure of the temporary organ in the Municipality of Strpce. We have been warning about the harmfulness of such actions for quite some time, and we are particularly concerned about the raid that took place in Pristina at the Health Center, as well as at the Health Center in Osojane and the raid at the post office in Gorazdevac," Jevtic emphasized.

He stresses that all of these were topics of discussion with interlocutors in Washington.

"I would also highlight that I had the opportunity to meet with advisors to members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Congress, people who are important in the decision-making process and activities of this body. In a comprehensive conversation that lasted, I would say, longer than planned, because my interlocutors were interested in hearing some things in detail, I was able to list exhaustively all the problems facing the Serbs in these areas due to everything the current regime in Pristina is doing. I believe that as a result of all these discussions, certain decisions will be made by the US administration. It is important that all of us who are able to do so talk to representatives of the international community whenever we have the opportunity, although it is not easy, that is our job," Jevtic said.
