Krauss: It is unfortunate that Austria is inactive on an important issue such as Kosovo

The head of the parliamentary group of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) in the Vienna Assembly, Maximilian Krauss, expressed his regret that the Austrian government was inactive on the issue of Kosovo, which, as he pointed out, was of great importance for Europe.

"It is unfortunate that Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg are so inactive on this issue of great importance for the country and Europe. One gets the impression that there is a strong lobby for Kosovo, especially among the MPs of the Austrian People's Party in the EU. It would be Vienna's obligation to take a neutral but active role in this matter," Kraus said in a statement to Kosovo Online.

He also referred to the 24th anniversary of the NATO bombing of the former FRY, saying that the bombing without a UN mandate had certainly opened Pandora's box.

"Unfortunately, even today, international regulations are not respected, but are violated - for example, in the case of the Ukrainian crisis," he explained.

When it comes to the Austrian government, Krauss says that recent surveys show that only 22 percent of Austrians are satisfied with the "black-green" government.

"This is not surprising. There are no effective relief measures to alleviate inflation, the government is sacrificing our neutrality and people have to continue to pay for the public service ORF which has declining ratings. The immigration of social migrants from the Arab and African regions is not abating. New elections and course change are urgently needed,” he emphasized.

Asked if the FPO was ready to take responsibility again, Krauss emphasized that the party wanted to be the first to cross the finish line in the next parliamentary elections.

"This is possible because the FPO is the only party in Austria that leads a responsible, forward-looking policy. The stronger the FPO, the more politics in the interest of its own people. The stronger the FPO, the more neutrality, peace, common sense, sense of measure, and politics with reason. The more FPO, the more courage to stand up against the system of coercion and imposing things from above. This applies to Vienna as well as to the federal level," he pointed out.

When asked what the FPO would change if it came to power, he said that, regarding the coronavirus, the party would continue to fight against cover-ups, against shifting responsibility, and attempts to simply “let the grass grow".

"We want a complete processing and analysis of that topic, the identification of those who benefited from it. And we want compensation for the victims of the corona. The division in society has affected everyone. Therefore, everyone is a victim of the federal government's policy. Other main points are the asylum policy based on the Hungarian model and the establishment of ' Fortresses of Austria', the expansion of an active policy of neutrality as an instrument of peace, and an effective policy against inflation through the fight against the causes," he pointed out.
