Maliqi: Kurti is exploiting the situation, despite being legally barred from holding two positions

Political analyst Shkelzen Maliqi stated that although Albin Kurti’s party adopted a law three years ago stipulating that a member of the government cannot simultaneously serve as a member of parliament, Kurti and his ministers continue to enter their offices and perform their duties as usual.

Maliqi emphasized that Kurti should appoint a deputy from among those party members who were not elected to parliament, and that such a government should function as a technical one. However, he added that, as with many other issues, Kurti has shown himself to be “defiant and arrogant” in this matter as well.

“Kurti is taking advantage of the fact that there are no deadlines for electing the President of the Assembly, just like he exploited the situation during the COVID pandemic, when he tried to stay in power as long as the pandemic lasted. At that time, the Assembly was still functioning and removed him with a two-thirds majority. Now he’s using the situation again. He’s a master of creating fog and confusion,” Maliqi said.
