Maliqi: Serbs in the north will not participate in the elections, this is a consequence of Kurti's government

Kosovo analyst Shkelzen Maliqi says that Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani cannot expect international missions to convince Serbs to participate in the elections, because they did not obey the West to postpone the deadline for implementing the decision on license plates, Gazeta Express reports.

"If Kurti and Osmani believe that KFOR and EULEX will convince the Serbs to go to the elections, they are wrong, because they ignored the West's demands that the issue be resolved with a major agreement and not with the symbolism of imposing the RKS license plates. An unforgivable mistake in steps, we have short-sighted and autistic rulers who do not understand that the sovereignty they are defending is like cutting the branch they are sitting on," Maliqi said.

Maliqi does not expect that Serbs from the north will be allowed to participate in the elections called by Osmani. He says that the Government also had to consider the consequences, when it persistently decided to implement the decision to replace illegal license plates.

"Serbs in the north will not vote on the elections, and this is a consequence of the Government’s decision, and this situation should have been foreseen before the implementation of reciprocity measures and license plates," Maliqi said.
