Marinkovic with Escobar in Washington: The CSM must be formed, the US will insist on it
The President of the Congress of Serbian-American Friendship, Vladimir Marinkovic, met today in Washington with Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien and the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.
Marinkovic and Escobar discussed the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of the economy and energy. They also talked about the need for greater US engagement in regional stability, as well as the urgent de-escalation and normalization of the situation in northern Kosovo.
Marinkovic indicated that the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was crucial to allow the Kosovo Serbs to continue to live normally, primarily ensuring their safety.
He emphasized that the only solution was for KFOR to be much more engaged in providing conditions for the normal life of citizens and avoiding situations that could lead to greater conflicts which had been provoked by Kurti's continuous pressure on the Serbs in northern Kosovo.
Escobar and Marinkovic agreed that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities must and should be formed, and the United States would continue to strongly insist on it in the coming weeks.
