The Mayor of Leposavic prevented MTS from repairing the malfunction in the municipal building, leaving users without signal

Employees of MTS d.o.o attempted to access the roof of the Municipality of Leposavic building to resolve the interference and restore mobile phone service in that area, but the Mayor of Leposavic did not allow them to do so, warning that MTS could only "permanently remove equipment from his building", even though the company had all the necessary permits for the work.

Due to the construction work being carried out on the roof of the Municipality of Leposavic building, around noon, there was an interruption in the air radio-relay links for the mobile base stations KOM Lesak and Josanica, which provide mobile signal coverage to the settlements of Lesak, a part of Leposavic, the village of Josanica, as well as a larger part of the main road between the Administrative Crossing - Leposavic - Socanica.

However, the Mayor of Leposavic did not allow MTS employees to access the roof of the building, mentioning twice that the work on the roof of the building was carried out by employees of another Kosovo mobile telephony operator - Vala.

MTS d.o.o. will, in the interest of its customers in that region who are affected by the inability to use mobile phone signals, find another solution for establishing air communication with the mentioned base stations Josanica and Kom Lecak within 24 hours.

The company will initiate an appeal process with the electronic communications regulator because, as they claim, their right to normal business operations has been forcibly denied by the decision of one person, despite having obtained all regulatory permits.

According to the findings of our portal, the decision of the Mayor of Leposavic has left about 5,000 MTS users in the northernmost part of Kosovo without signal, even though MTS has a Kosovo license for the works and a contract with the Municipality of Leposavic for the base station on the municipality building.
