The executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, Ehat Miftaraj, assessed that the statement by the USA and the EU - that they received guarantees from Kosovo that there are no lists for the arrest of Serbs who were at the barricades - is a consequence of the amateur action of the representative of Self-Determination, Armend Muja, who published a list of persons a few days ago who, according to him, should be arrested, Gazeta Express reports.

"The statement by the US and the EU is the result of childish statements by MP Armend Muja and certain exponents of the ruling party, who in public statements targeted certain organizations or individuals as part of criminal groups in the northern part of the country. Although it is a well-known fact that there are criminal groups in the north of Kosovo, connected to certain individuals who engage in criminal activities, it is not the duty of politicians to name in public who should be arrested," Miftaraj says.

As he adds, only the security and judicial institutions have this responsibility by law and with respect to the procedure.
"Serbia made the most of this fact by building a narrative that at this stage found the understanding of the international community, forcing the Government of Kosovo to promise that there is no list of Serbs who should be arrested. Prime Minister Kurti and the Government of Kosovo paid the bill for irresponsible politicians who are extremely amateurish they understand their powers and responsibilities," Miftaraj said.

He also commented on the decision to allow Dejan Pantic to defend himself from house arrest.

"If we analyze the Prosecution's request for a change in the security measure against the defendant Pantic, and the prosecutor's explanation that the change in the security measure from detention to house arrest is based on the defendant's health condition and the inability of the Republic of Kosovo to send the same person to a detention center for longer than 18 days, it can be considered that such a decision is legal. Undoubtedly, in the eyes of the public, this decision can be challenged due to the criminal offenses of which Pantic is accused. It should be understood that the security measure is not a punishment but a legal measure that guarantees the participation of a person in criminal proceedings and that the same measure can be changed at any time if the same person does not meet the prescribed conditions", Miftaraj explains.

On December 23, the MP for Self-Determination Armend Muja published on Facebook a list of Serbs who should be arrested because they are "organizers of the Serbian protest in the northern municipalities".
