Mijacic: The relocation of the monument to Serbian soldiers is the most shameful event in modern French history

Coordinator of the Working Group of the National Convention on the European Union for Chapter 35, Dragisa Mijacic, stated that the relocation of the plaque commemorating fallen Serbian soldiers in World War I at the Pristina cemetery ranks among the most shameful events in modern French history.

Mijacic also stated on the social network “X” that the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, must react.

He added that since 1999, all Serbian monuments in Pristina had been destroyed, and a vast majority of Serbian tombstones had been ruined throughout Kosovo.

"To distance themselves from such necrophobia, the Embassy, and Ambassador Gureot must address this issue and return the monument to its rightful place", Mijacic emphasized.

In the meantime, a statement was issued by the Embassies of France and Germany in Kosovo, stating that the relocation of the plaque commemorating fallen Serbian soldiers in the Balkan Wars and World War I at the military Orthodox cemetery in Pristina had been done at their initiative. This was done to make way for a new plaque in memory of all the fallen fighters between 1912 and 1918.
