Milivojevic: Kurti's intention to dominate the north leads to the escalation

Former diplomat Zoran Milivojevic pointed out that the taking of the oath of the new mayor of North Mitrovica, Erdan Atic, most certainly led to escalation, Kurir reports.

Milivojevic stated that the goal of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was to achieve dominance in the north of Kosovo and that the Serbs' message of resistance should be taken seriously.

"The inauguration in North Mitrovica and the intention of Kurti to see it through to the end, with the support of the West, most certainly lead to escalation. The message of the Serbs that they will resist from June 1 should be taken seriously. Kurti's goal is to achieve dominance in the north of Kosovo, to practically ensure control of the north through the local government and the police stationed there. The interest of the West is to use this mechanism to exert additional pressure on Serbia to recognize the so-called reality, that is, to actively participate in the negotiations on the Ohrid Agreement and the de facto recognition of Kosovo. And there is also the goal of some other forces to achieve a change in Serbia's attitude and policy through the destabilization of Serbia, related to Kosovo and Metohija, the introduction of sanctions against Russia, and a complete change in Serbia's position," Milivojevic assesses.

Milivojevic says that a foreign factor is involved in all of this.

"It's not difficult to identify that, because you know who doesn't like the Serbian position, who won't impose sanctions, who thinks for himself, and who won't hand over Kosovo," Milivojevic adds.

According to him, it is no coincidence that, on the same day that Atic took the oath, a general destabilization of the country was attempted in Serbia with protests, announcements of planted bombs, and similar things.
