Murati: The exchange of territories was a golden, but missed opportunity for a final agreement
The president of the Kosovo Movement for Unity, Valon Murati, believes that Kosovo had missed the opportunity to reach a final agreement with Serbia, rejecting the idea of redefining borders.
He, as reported by Ekonomia online, says that the pressure of the international community on the issue of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities is a consequence of rejecting the idea of redefining borders.
Murati says that the tensions that arose in the north diverted attention from the fact that there is no final agreement in the dialogue, for which he blames both sides.
The danger that threatens Kosovo, he warns, is that the dialogue will turn into a technical one, because Kosovo's internal issues are often discussed in Brussels.
According to him, the problems in the north of Kosovo can only be solved by political methods.
"We don't call it an exchange, but a redefinition of the borders, based on the will of the people, and I think it's the only idea that solves the problem, it's the fairest for both peoples, which paves the way for peace, stability and consolidation of the state of Kosovo. Only with correct treatment of the problem of Albanians in the Valley, who were part of all the processes of Kosovo's independence and freedom, we become a little fairer like Kosovo, and that is in the interest of Kosovo. We had to do that from the beginning, it was done at a certain moment, the topic of border correction in 2018 was opened, which, unfortunately, was rejected in public," Murati said.
He claims that there were countries that supported the change of borders, with the exception of Germany.
