Odalovic: Kurti must face consequences, words are not enough

The President of the Government Commission on Missing Persons, Veljko Odalovic, stated that the international community should exert additional pressure on Pristina and that Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, must face consequences for his actions because, as he said, words are not enough, RTV reports.

He notes that the people who were arrested on May 29th in Zvecan and placed in custody were not there to attack KFOR soldiers or police officers but were participating in a peaceful protest, which, due to everything that has happened, is turning into a serious conflict.

Odalovic believes it is now the international community's turn to exert additional pressure and sanction Pristina and Kurti, who, he says, must suffer the consequences for his behavior because if everything remains only at the level of words, there will be no results.

"I want to remind that they allowed him to enter the original offices easily, which sparked the first demonstrations, and then he continued to prepare for elections, organize and reschedule them, and then he started their implementation because the international community made a huge mistake by giving him legitimacy through the messages that were sent at that time," he explained.

He added that there had never been anyone in Leposavic, Zubin Potok, or Zvecan except Serbs until this incursion.

As he emphasized, the Declaration on Missing Persons has been accepted and should have already started implementation, and by refusing to do so, Pristina is committing a new crime against the missing persons.

"Kurti wants to undermine dialogue, and everything he does in Mitrovica aims to achieve two goals: to undermine dialogue and to expel Serbs. So far, it has worked for him; he has not expelled Serbs, but he has currently undermined the dialogue. However, I think he will sober up very soon because I don't believe that the international community wants to allow him to do what he has started," Odalovic stated.

As he explained, the messages from the political representatives of Kosovo Albanians indicate how scared they are because Kurti's actions lead to jeopardizing their relationship with the United States, which is what they fear the most, because, as he stated, if the US changes its course, "then they are in big trouble."
