Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Serb arrested as part of Kurti’s pre-election attacks on the Serbian community

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced this evening that a Serb, Vidosav M., was detained in his home, stating that through this unauthorized arrest Albin Kurti has continued a violent pre-election campaign against the Serbian community.

“Vidosav M. was arrested in his own home, which clearly shows that he had nothing to hide, and the entire operation carried out for Kurti’s political needs was conducted in front of the detainee’s family, who were subjected to unprecedented stress. This is a classic attack on Serbs for pre-election purposes, as further evidenced by the fact that no evidence was found in the arrested man’s house, while during the search his family was exposed to impermissible intimidation,” the statement said.
The statement notes that such actions are carried out with the aim of attracting voters.
“These anti-Serb actions by Kurti and [Xhelal] Sveçla serve only to mislead the public and intimidate Serbs, all with the aim that Kurti, through attacks on northern Kosovo and Metohija, tries to secure a few more votes in the December elections, given that he has nothing else to offer his voters,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija added.
The Office also pointed out that, as part of the pre-election campaign, Kurti opened an “unfinished pedestrian bridge over the Ibar” and a police station in Leposavic.
“That is why, on the first day of the campaign, Kurti opened the unfinished pedestrian bridge over the Ibar, which according to all evidence from the field represents a security threat, and just a day later opened another police outpost in Leposavic. Just as voters punished such conduct in two election cycles already held this year, so too will he suffer a debacle in December, and the Serbian people will once again demonstrate unity, cohesion, and responsibility as a response to Kurti’s terror,” the statement concludes.
