Osmani: Serbian elections in Kosovo are impossible because Serbia does not accept that Kosovo is independent
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani stated today that elections for the Serbian Parliament could not be held in Kosovo without respecting the international model for "holding elections of one country in another", Ekonomia Online reports.
Osmani emphasized that Kosovo would never be the party causing tensions, adding that she was diligently working with international partners to preserve security.
"We will not cause tensions because we have not caused them in the past. If anyone causes tensions, it will be Serbia. We are making all necessary preparations with security institutions in cooperation with our partners to prevent any attempt to escalate tensions", Osmani said.
Regarding elections in Serbia, she stated that Kosovo had criteria determined based on international public law and the good practice examples of the Venice Commission.
"Serbia has not met these criteria. Serbia has hindered this process by not accepting that these are elections of one country in another country", Osmani said.
