Osmani told the EU: The issue of opening the bridge on the Ibar should not be part of the dialogue
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani emphasized that the issue of opening the bridge on the Ibar should not be a topic of dialogue and that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has no say regarding the opening of traffic on bridges in Kosovo.
In response to an EU official's statement that the bridge in Mitrovica must be resolved through dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Osmani wrote on Facebook that such a thing would represent a violation of Kosovo's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitution.
"The issue of the bridge should not be a topic of dialogue with Serbia. Such an action would represent a serious violation of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutionality of our country. Vucic has no say in when traffic will be allowed over bridges in Kosovo. The only dialogue that should take place is within Kosovo, between our institutions and our security partners (especially with NATO) to build a joint implementation plan for opening the bridge to traffic, considering the security assessments and interests of our citizens," she stressed.
European Union spokesperson Peter Stano stated today that the decision regarding the opening of the main bridge on the Ibar River is a subject of dialogue and that any action related to it can only be taken within the framework of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, which is mediated by the EU.
"The reopening of the bridge on the Ibar is a subject of dialogue, and any decision on this matter must be made through dialogue," emphasized Stano.
