Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic met today with the French Ambassador to Serbia, Florence Ferrari, whom he briefed on the course of the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue and conveyed that Belgrade expects the international community to take concrete steps and compel Pristina to respect the agreements reached so far.

Petkovic also informed Ambassador Ferrari of, as he emphasized, Pristina’s intention to “through the so-called Law on Foreigners expel Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija and strike at key Serbian institutions in the province,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a statement.

He noted that Serbian educational and health institutions in Kosovo are the pillars of the survival and continued presence of the Serbian people and the foundation for the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, and that Belgrade expects the international community to take concrete steps and compel Pristina to respect the agreements reached so far, instead of unilateral and unlawful moves.

“The Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija have been waiting for almost 13 years for the formation of the CSM, which Pristina committed to under the First Brussels Agreement on the normalization of relations, and whose implementation is guaranteed by the European Union as well,” Petkovic said.

He also pointed out that Pristina almost daily resorts to escalatory moves aimed at provoking crises and tensions on the ground, carries out blatant physical and institutional violence, and tramples on all basic political and human rights of the Serbian people and their legitimately elected political representatives.

“This is also evidenced by Pristina’s attempt to annul nearly 43,000 votes of the Serbian people won by the Serb List in the most recent elections,” Petkovic added.

He also conveyed his gratitude to Ambassador Ferrari for the constructive and balanced approach that France takes toward Serbia, to which the excellent friendly relations nurtured by President Aleksandar Vucic and President Emmanuel Macron have greatly contributed.
