Several people violently stormed an unfinished building in Leposavic tonight
Tonight, shortly after 7:00 p.m., in Dositeja Obradovica Street in Leposavic, unknown persons forcibly entered and broke the entrance door of one of the two buildings in which a total of 12 residential units are being built, which are being built with the funds of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, while the investor is the municipality of Leposavic.
The facility is in the completion phase, but the technical acceptance has not been completed, said the president of the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Leposavic, Zoran Todic for Kosovo Online.
"Tonight there was a group of people among whom there were some residents of our municipality, and according to eyewitnesses there were also people who were not from our municipality. Also, according to eyewitnesses the brother of Aleksandar Jablanovic was among that group, and what is very worrying is that I have to repeat again, according to eyewitnesses, at one point the advisor to Minister Rasic and the Deputy Minister for Return and Community, Radomirovic, who probably came to give support for this serious crime that happened tonight on the territory of our municipality, appeared," Todic pointed out.
Todic also referred to the political and security situation in which the residents of the Leposavic municipality have been for more than three months.
"Really at this moment, we all know very well what we have been going through for the last three months, two years since the regime of Albin Kurti started to implement anti-Serb measures and make unilateral decisions and moves that are directed against the normal life of the population that has been living here for centuries. It has come and to the harassment of the residents of Leposavic from neighboring buildings who live in the immediate vicinity of this building, which was vandalized and smashed tonight," added Todic.
After learning that the building was destroyed, as Todic adds, they hired employees from the local government who are in charge of urban planning and construction.
"They were on the spot, but they did not allow them to enter the building itself to see what kind of damage was caused and what was happening in the building itself. They came to the front door and saw that the door was broken. There they encountered a group of about ten, twelve people who did not allow them to go on. Everything that is happening today will be recorded and will be reported to the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia," said Todic.
Dragan Pesakovic, head of the urban planning department in the Leposavic municipality, visited the building broken into this evening, which, he says, is not yet completely finished.
"The contractor is still on the ground, the buildings have not been completed, the ground-floor decoration has not yet been finished, the buildings are not connected to the infrastructure, electricity, water supply and sewerage, so they are completely unsuitable for any kind of housing, and for sure not for a violent intrusion like this. The construction has not been completed, the handover of the works between the contractor and the Leposavic municipal administration has not been completed, the technical acceptance has not been completed, under the designations V and G," said Pesakovic.
He adds that they went to the field and that at the entrance of the building unknown persons told them that they were not welcome.
"I went out to the field with my colleague, it was dark, there were ten people on the spot at the very entrance of the building, the front door was open, they told us that we were not welcome and then we came back," said Pesakovic.
In the end, Todic condemned the violent demolition of the building and called this act barbaric.
"We, as the local leadership, strongly condemn this action, the irresponsibility of the people at this moment and in a really difficult and complex moment in which all of us who live here are really strongly condemning this barbarism and criminal act. It is obvious that Radomirovic and the gentlemen who decided to this act has the support of someone who is working to unify the local population. We all know very well what is happening, that our people who are employed in the local self-government cannot enter the facility to their workplaces so that all of us who live here, the state of Serbia, the international community, we stand for the de-escalation of the newly created situation, but certainly this act and the actions of Radomirovic do not contribute to the de-escalation of the situation, but really bring additional unrest, so I believe that common sense will prevail this time, and that the perpetrators will be adequately punished," Todic pointed out.
Two residential buildings are intended for solutions for the population category that has not resolved the housing issue in the municipality of Leposavic.
