Starovic: I fear that Kurti is succeeding in provoking a larger-scale conflict

Nemanja Starovic, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, states that the situation in northern Kosovo is the most difficult it has been since 1999. He attributes this primarily to the fact that Albin Kurti has been at the helm of the Kosovo government for the past two years, and as Starovic claims, he consistently implements unilateral measures that endanger the security and safety of Serbs, RTS reports.

"It has become a pattern, a rule, for him to resort to the implementation of unilateral measures. We are witnessing the constant deployment of special militarized mono-ethnic Albanian forces of the Kosovo police whose sole task seems to be to harass members of the Serbian people," Starovic emphasizes.

He expresses concern that Kurti's only goal is to incite a conflict on a larger scale that would resemble war.

"Regardless of everything we do, and I'm referring to official Belgrade and Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija, in order to avoid such a scenario, I fear that he is succeeding," Starovic points out.

He emphasizes that there is a great responsibility on the international community, particularly the Quint countries, who, despite their condemnatory rhetoric, do nothing in practice to thwart Kurti's "criminal intentions."

"I cannot find another term for someone who clearly desires, invokes, and attempts to instigate a conflict, all with the aim of erasing any socio-political organized presence of Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija," Starovic says.
