Starting today, cars with Serbian license plates can enter Kosovo without stickers
At the Jarinje administrative crossing, around 3 pm, an announcement was made that cars with Serbian license plates could enter Kosovo without covering Serbian symbols.
It took some more time for the Kosovo side to approve, in the Official Gazette, the decision to abolish stickers that were previously placed over Serbian license plates.
The previous decision of the Government of Serbia came into effect four days ago (January 1), allowing freedom of movement for all vehicles registered with Kosovo license plates.
In the statement from the Kosovo Government's electronically held session yesterday, it is stated that the removal of the paper sticker regime is 'an act of good neighborliness and comes after the complete recognition of Kosovo license plates by Serbia'.
Following the decision of the Government of Serbia made on December 25, disclaimers were placed at the administrative crossings on the last day of 2023, emphasizing that allowing vehicles with Kosovo license plates to participate in traffic was done solely for practical reasons, to enable freedom of movement, without implying recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.
