State Department: Dialogue is the only way forward, both sides should refrain from uncoordinated actions

The EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is the only way forward, the State Department told Kosovo Online, urging both sides to refrain from uncoordinated actions or legislative acts that contradict normalization.

"The United States continues to strongly support the EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia as the path to achieving a peaceful and productive relationship between the two countries. The future of both countries lies in European institutions," the written response from the State Department spokesperson reads, in response to a question asking for comments on the recent address by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in which he presented a package of measures regarding Kosovo.

The State Department emphasizes that the EU-supported process is the only way forward.

"We once again call on Serbia and Kosovo to refrain from further escalatory rhetoric, uncoordinated actions, or legislative acts that contradict the normalization of their relations or threaten stability and security," the response states.
