Todic: Kurti continues to take land from Serbs in the north with unreasonable decisions
The President of the Provisional Authority of Leposavic Municipality, Zoran Todic, said for Kosovo Online that the government of Albin Kurti continued with unilateral moves and illegal expropriation of land in northern Kosovo without the consent of the population and local authorities.
Todic points out that the Pristina government's unilateral moves in the north continue to deepen the crisis.
"The government of Albin Kurti continues with unilateral moves, which cause new crises and new uncertainty in the area of four municipalities in the north. They make decisions without asking the local population and without consulting with the representatives of the local authorities. After yesterday's decision, the people are worried and even more upset because we know very well and are aware of what the expropriation of land for the infrastructure projects construction led to last year. We all know very well that after last year's land expropriation, illegal police-military bases were built on our municipality territory and Zubin Potok municipality. This decision is unreasonable, and it comes after the recent tensions that we had here in the area of the municipalities of Leposavic, Severna Mitrovica, Zvecan, and Zubin Potok. The government in Pristina does not respect its legal provisions because it had to consult the local population for such a decision and to start a public debate. Unfortunately, just as the last year, we found out through the media that the Government adopted this decision at the latest session yesterday, which led to the upsetting of our population, and it is about the cadastral municipalities of Dren and Lesak," Todic said.
Another proof of the Pristina Government's irresponsibility is that it is unclear which part of the land is in question, according to the letter they sent.
"At the moment, we have no more information about which cadastral real estate and plots of land are involved. The countryside areas in these two cadastral municipalities are really large. An unreasonable and unilateral move by the Pristina Government. We, who live here, will certainly not look calmly at the interference of the inner life of our living population, I am talking about the Leposavic municipality specifically," Todic pointed out for Kosovo Online.
He emphasized that he expected the international community to react and prevent these actions by Pristina.
"What we as a local government will do, is to appeal to the international community first of all, to inform them and warn them that such unilateral moves do not contribute to the creation of a peaceful and safe environment because the Serbian people living in these four municipalities have shown that they are for peace and coexistence with our Albanian neighbors. But the people who represent the government in Pristina do not understand this. I certainly believe that our country Serbia will make additional efforts to put an end to such decisions," Todic concluded.
We remind that at yesterday's meeting, the Government of Kosovo adopted a decision to declare infrastructure projects of public interest in the village of Dren and Lesak in the Leposavic municipality. This northernmost municipality in Kosovo has 72 villages, 33 of which are cadastral municipalities, and the village of Borcane is one of the largest cadastral areas.
