Vucevic: Vucic informed the Kosovo Serbs about the state's actions to preserve peace; told the diplomats there could be no humiliation of the Serbs

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met late last night with representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija and informed them about everything that the state of Serbia is doing to preserve peace and stability, as well as the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija informed the president about the situation on the ground, Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said for RTS.

Serbs from Kosovo, as Vucevic said, conveyed to the president what drove them to that kind of peaceful and democratic protest, such as the roadblocks.

"At the same time, the President of the Republic had an open communication line with the highest diplomatic representatives of the Quint countries, the EU countries, and the US, and once again conveyed the views of Serbia and the Serbian people on Kosovo and Metohija and our determination to seek a political agreement, but that it cannot be the humiliation of the Serbs and the further pogrom of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. Serbia's red line is that there is no new pogrom, Flash, or Storm. If the international community really wants this to return to the format of dialogue and political agreement, the administration in Pristina must stop with a whole series of irrational and unilateral moves. Serbs are not worried about their lives for no reason," said Vucevic.

He stated that Serbia was ready for an agreement, but that it did not mean moving the red lines.

"It is up to us to find a political solution, and at the same time, the army and the police are ready to protect Serbia and all its citizens," Vucevic pointed out.

He also stated that it was a fact that Kurti was denouncing the agreements reached in the previous ten years.

"On the other hand, we have a man who doesn't make rational moves. A whole series of moves, from the persecution of Serbs in Strpce, attacks on Serbs in Kosovo under the guise of fighting the gray economy, the license plates issues, election commissions, banning Serbs from participating in elections and referendums, arrests, etc.," Vucevic said.

He noted that no one was at war and that no one wished for conflicts, but the Serbian Army was ready, brave, and determined to protect its country.

"There is no euphoria, no songs, only full concentration. You can see the courage and determination in their eyes to protect our people. I hope that no one will check whether this is true," the Serbian Defense Minister said, adding that the army and the police were not only at the administrative line but in various locations.

"I can't reveal all the positions, but when you know that, you feel safer. We have everything we need to protect our country, not only in that territory. There are also special brigades, air force, artillery," Vucevic noted.

If the president gives the order, as he said, the army will respond.

"Let's try to fight politically for Kosovo and Metohija, for the survival and life of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, so that we don't get into the scenario written for us in the 1990s and get the main culprit halo. We must not get into that cliché. Serbia leads Serbian politics, we are not an isolated island, but that does not mean that Serbia is a punching and kicking bag. Wisdom and a rational approach – not shying away from emotions, but they must not prevail in the decision-making process," Vucevic concluded.
