Vucic and Aliyev signed the Memorandum on strategic partnership between Serbia and Azerbaijan

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, with whom he signed a joint statement and Memorandum on Strategic Partnership, Pink reports.

Several bilateral agreements and memoranda on readmission, infrastructure, and social security were signed in the presence of Vucic and Aliyev.

Vucic says that Azerbaijan and Serbia have a lot in common, we respect and steadfastly preserve territorial integrity and help each other in international institutions.

"Dear President Aliyev, dear friend, respected ministers in the Government of Azerbaijan, I am happy that we can host a sincere friend of Serbia. "We had a series of high-quality conversations," Vucic said.

Vucic added that there was little left of international law, several dozen countries adhered to it, although we believed that it was crucial for the future. We were raising cooperation with Azerbaijan to a higher level.

"We talked about all the important topics today. From how to cooperate in the field of energy, since Azerbaijan is a superpower in the production and export of gas. They export more than half of their gas to European countries, and that is the reason we are working on building an interconnector with Bulgaria so that we can buy significant quantities of gas from Azerbaijan. We will talk with European partners to join the agreements related to the purchase of electricity so that they have complete security on this matter. That would guarantee us full energy security," Vucic said.

The President of Serbia reminded that they were building the road to Preljina and that we were surprised when they finished it without a day of delay, and they were surprised when we fully and prematurely paid off the debt from 2011.

"We have to sign, but President Aliyev's word is enough for us because that's how it will be," said Vucic and expressed his expectation that he would go on a working visit to Azerbaijan in the next 20 days.

The President of Serbia said that we would protect our country at least half as successfully as Azerbaijan and pointed out that we knew how to recognize our friends.

Vucic pointed out that Aliyev was the most popular man in Europe these days.

"Someone loves, someone begs him", he said.

Aliyev pointed out that the signed documents represented the legal basis for relations between the two countries.

"We successfully cooperate in numerous areas. Serbia and Azerbaijan have always supported each other in the international arena," Aliyev said and added that the friendship between the two countries would be eternal.
