Vucic with a delegation of US senators in Munich: It is important to protect the Serbs in Kosovo

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with a delegation of US senators led by Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and chair of the Subcommittee on Europe, and on that occasion, he emphasized the importance of protecting the Serbs in Kosovo and ensuring conditions for their normal lives, especially in light of the recent move by Pristina to abolish the dinar as a legitimate means of payment.

Vucic stated on Instagram that during the meeting with the senators on the sidelines of the Munich Security Forum, he had stressed the need to continue dialogue to address the increasing pressures faced by the Serbs in Kosovo daily, and expressed gratitude for the support of the United States in finding a peaceful and sustainable solution to this issue.

"I reiterated great concern for the security and rights of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, emphasizing the importance of protecting their interests and conditions for a normal life, especially considering the recent move by Pristina to abolish the dinar as a legitimate means of payment, thereby jeopardizing the existence of the Serbian population recklessly," Vucic stated.

He emphasized that frequent communication between Serbia and the United States, as an extremely important partner of Serbia, was crucial for strengthening the ties between the two countries and resolving key issues of common interest.

"We also discussed bilateral relations, issues of regional stability, and the current geopolitical situation, as well as enhancing economic cooperation and investments in major projects that Serbia is initiating as a part of EXPO2027," he noted.

He expressed gratitude to the United States for its support to Serbia on its European path, as well as its commitment to continue comprehensive development in all areas.
