Vucic: During the weekend, I will decide whether I will go to the summit in Tirana

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said today that he would decide during the weekend whether he would go to the EU-Western Balkans Summit, which would be held in Tirana on December 6.

As he said, Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, had told him that day that he had to attend the Summit and say everything he had in front of the 27 of them.

"But I went to every summit and dialogue, I never missed it, I went with the best intention to preserve the peace, I listened to nonsense. I don't see much sense, but I'm ready, I told Oliver too because I know how much he and many others want to see Serbia in the EU. I didn't make any decision. I said we should let Ana (Brnabic) go, but Oliver said today that I had been invited, that is, the head of the state," said Vucic at a joint conference with Varhelyi in Belgrade.

When asked by journalists if his statement the previous night, as well as that day, about the appointment of Nenad Rasic as the Minister in the Government of Albin Kurti and regarding the EU's reaction to that decision, had been emotional, Vucic replied that he was not ashamed of his emotions.

"For ten and a half years I was at the top of the government, either as the Prime Minister or as the President of the Republic. I am not ashamed of my emotions because for me the key question is whether what I said was true or not. I told the absolute truth, every letter, every word. Do you understand that we go to Brussels and never talk about it, that we need to give our best efforts to insert half a sentence for something that should be implicit, which is that all agreements reached must be implemented. I am forced to listen to how someone important came to power recently in Pristina and how this important person cannot recognize those before him. It is not a problem for me to listen to nonsense, but the problem is the actions that bring tensions and which call into question the survival of peace and stability. Everyone in Europe knows this, but they have one member state that is always with them," Vucic said.

He stated that he had received the enormous trust of the people, which he had to justify by fighting for the people.

"If I, with what I said last night and today, managed to spread the word about the suffering of the Serbian people in Kosovo, what do I care about my reputation in Brussels, Washington, or Berlin? Because otherwise, they would never look back to what is happening in Kosovo. If that was the only way to start something, I'm happy that I did it," Vucic said.
