Vucic with Jenca: The UN is, for Serbia, a guarantor of the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met with Miroslav Jenca, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, and emphasized that the United Nations is, for Serbia, a guarantor of the preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Vucic highlighted the importance of the UNMIK mission in Kosovo and the role of the UN Office in Belgrade, which he said represents the main channel of communication between Serbia and the UN system.
“I expressed gratitude for the cooperation so far and Serbia’s readiness to continue contributing to international peace through participation in peacekeeping missions, as well as to remain strongly committed to the principles of the UN Charter. I also reiterated Serbia’s position on the necessity of respecting UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and maintaining the presence of UNMIK on the ground, in full capacity and with an unchanged mandate,” Vucic stressed.
He pointed out that Serbia remains a reliable partner of the UN by consistently respecting the principles of international law.
“Not only for itself, but also on behalf of all those who believe in the power of justice, peace, and equality among states,” the President of Serbia concluded.
