Vucic: Pristina has not provided us with any forensic evidence, but we will find out the truth about Ivanovic’s murder

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today, marking eight years since the murder of the leader of the Civic Initiative “Freedom, Democracy, Justice”, Oliver Ivanovic, that Pristina has not provided Belgrade with any forensic evidence, although it was requested, and that it justified this with unbelievable reasons. He also stressed that there are no perfect crimes and that he believes the truth will be uncovered.

Responding to the remark that Pristina does not even want the truth about Ivanovic’s murder to be revealed, Vucic told TV Pink that officials in Pristina accuse official Serbia of responsibility and have done everything to prove it, but without success.

“I regret that they did not provide us with any forensic evidence, which we requested from international actors, so that we could present proof for the conclusions we reached, about how and why it was organized,” Vucic said.

He recalled that excuses were heard from Pristina claiming they could not provide satellite images because of fog, along with other, as he put it, unbelievable reasons.

Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the truth about Ivanovic’s murder would be revealed.

“I believe that nothing can ever be completely hidden. There are no perfect crimes. Just as we learned the truth about other things in Kosovo and Metohija, I believe we will manage to uncover this one to the end as well,” Vucic said.

Speaking about the meeting he held earlier today with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot, Vucic said that France is a sincere friend of Serbia and that, although previously the most skeptical toward EU enlargement, it is today a strong advocate not only of enlargement, but also of Serbia’s progress on its European path.

He said that he spoke at length with the French minister about bilateral cooperation, which is functioning well, illustrating this with the fact that in the first 11 months of last year more than two billion euros were achieved in foreign trade exchange.

They also discussed the geopolitical situation, he said, noting that the positions of Serbia and France on some issues are similar, almost identical, while on others they are not entirely the same.

“It is good to have a sincere friend and someone who supports Serbia,” Vucic said.

He added that he also discussed military-technical cooperation with Barrot.

“You may have noticed that we do not respond to Croats when Plenkovic and Milanovic argue over the Rafale jets. We do our job quietly and do what is good for Serbia, and when we do what is good for Serbia, we have a sufficient deterrent factor against any potential aggressor,” President Vucic said.

Talks with MOL are not easy; confident everything will be fine

Regarding talks between MOL and NIS on the takeover of the Russian stake in the Oil Industry of Serbia, Vucic said that these talks are not easy, but expressed confidence that everything will be resolved and that he expects an agreement in the coming days.

“Because you have to obtain an extension of the operating license, and in order to obtain that extension, which is valid until January 23, you have to submit a complete term sheet with all the details, cooperation, how many shares, to whom, how and in what way management will function, and how and in what way even supply will be organized,” Vucic explained.
