Vucic: Vucevic mandated for the composition of the new Government of the Republic of Serbia

President Aleksandar Vucic proposed to the Serbian Parliament Milos Vucevic as a candidate for Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia.

The announcement states that "the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, based on Article 112, paragraph 1, item 3, and Article 127, paragraph 1, of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", No. 98/2006), Article 18 and Article 24, Paragraph 3 of the Law on the President of the Republic ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", number 111/07), and after hearing the opinion of representatives of the selected electoral lists, proposed to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Milos Vucevic as a candidate for the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia. The explanation of the decision says:

"I believe that Milos Vucevic has the professional and personal qualities to perform the function of Prime Minister, and he assured me that he can secure the election of the Government. I have my trust in Milos Vucevic, bearing in mind that in the previous period he held the responsible and demanding functions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, which showed that he possesses the commitment and expertise required to perform the functions of Prime Minister. The new Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia will continue to implement programs aimed at raising the standard of living of all citizens, projects in the fields of health, education, science and technology, infrastructure development, ecology, energy, agriculture, tourism, as well as in other areas of importance for the future of Serbia and its progress on the European path," the announcement reads.

It is further stated that "ahead of the Prime Minister is the task of realizing the Specialized World Exhibition "EXPO 2027 Belgrade", which will largely represent the investment basis in the mandate of the new Government".

"By preserving peace and stability, the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, with consistent respect for international law, regional cooperation and care for the vital interests of the Republic of Serbia will continue to be priorities in the work of the Government", states President Vucic in the explanation of the decision. This decision is submitted to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and enters into force on the day of its publication in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", it is written at the end of the press release of the Service for Cooperation with the Media of the President of Serbia.

Milos Vucevic was born in 1974 in Novi Sad. He attended the "Vasa Stajic" elementary school in Novi Sad, and then graduated from the "Jan Kolar" high school in Backi Petrovac and graduated from the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad in 1999, with an average grade of 8.84. After graduating from college, he went to serve in the military in Vranje, and then in Gnjilane.

He has been practicing law since 1999 in the family law office.

He was elected mayor of Novi Sad in September 2012, after which he stopped working as a lawyer. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) from 2015 to 2016.

After the local elections in 2016, he was elected mayor of Novi Sad for the second consecutive term, and in 2020 he was elected mayor for the third time, which happened for the first time in the history of the city.

After the 2022 parliamentary elections, he was elected Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
