President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic welcomed President of the European Council António Costa this evening, who arrived on an official visit to Serbia.

"I extended a warm welcome to President of the European Council António Costa, with whom I will have the opportunity to discuss tomorrow key issues in Serbia-EU relations, as well as the challenges we face on that path," Vucic wrote on Instagram.

He stated that Serbia is committed to continuing its European path and is ready to work on all matters important for peace and prosperity of its citizens, with a responsible and partnership-based approach.

"I believe in the great importance of dialogue, and of open and direct communication in times of complex geopolitical circumstances," the President of Serbia noted.

Vučić warmly welcomed Costa at Belgrade’s “Nikola Tesla” Airport, with the reception also attended by the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, and Serbia’s Head of Mission to the EU, Danijel Apostolovic.

By arriving in Belgrade, Costa has officially begun his first visit to the region, and ahead of his arrival, he stated that he firmly believes the future of the Western Balkans lies within the European Union.

The President of the European Council will hold official talks with President Vucic tomorrow, after which they will address the media together.
