Vucic: We will not recognize Kosovo, we continue to pursue a serious and responsible policy
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated at a pre-election rally in Kraljevo that the talks and the situation in Kosovo would not be easy, and for 11 years, he had heard stories that they had "lost, betrayed, and sold Kosovo", as well as that Serbia would not recognize Kosovo's independence and would continue to pursue a serious and responsible policy.
"Will the talks or the situation in Kosovo and Metohija be easy for us? No, they won't be. But for 11 years, don't forget, we've been hearing stories about how we lost Kosovo, how we betrayed and sold Kosovo, and after 11 years, they tell us the same story. So, if we did, why do they all keep asking us to recognize Kosovo, and we tell them, that we will not recognize Kosovo, and we will continue to pursue a serious and responsible policy", Vucic emphasized.
He asked if there was anything to gain from false bravado.
"We gain nothing from false bravado. And now let me ask you a question. Western powers and the Albanians, even though I would like to go to Kosovo and Metohija every day, do not allow me to enter the southern Serbian province. How is it possible that those who threaten them, who tell them how they will deal with the Albanians, give them all the logistical support to enter Kosovo, to hold rallies? And to us, who supposedly betrayed someone somewhere, they do not allow such a thing. Then think carefully about who is the one preserving Kosovo and Metohija in Serbia, who is the one preserving Serbia, and who is the one who would tomorrow hand it over to those who are against our country", Vucic said.
Vucic stated that the next four years would bring difficult tasks for Serbia, emphasizing that elections were not a game and that they determined the path of Serbia.
"In the next four years, the fate of Serbia will be at stake, and elections, if I may tell you, dear friends, to you, young people, and to those like me who are older, let me ask you to understand well that elections are not a game. Elections are not something we can joke about and think in a way like, 'I liked the speech of someone there, I'll vote for him because he shouted louder, or because he insulted someone more clearly'. No, elections are where you make a decision about the future of your parents, spouses, brothers and sisters, your children. In elections, you choose the path of Serbia, and that path is not always easy. That path does not always lead to getting everything you want, or for us Serbs as a nation, or for the citizens of Serbia, as people living in this country, to get what we would like to get. Politics and the state are not like that. We can get as much as we deserve, as much as we earn, as much as we fight for", Vucic said.
