Citizens of North Mitrovica: Serbian products are of better quality, but still missing from shelves

Almost a month has passed since Kosovo authorities lifted the ban on importing goods from Serbia, but only at the Merdare crossing. The citizens of North Mitrovica express their disappointment, noting that Serbian products are still missing from the city’s store shelves.

One elderly resident mentions that she hasn't seen Serbian products on store shelves and that it would mean a lot to her if they were available.

“It would mean a lot, but what can we do? We have to buy something to eat and drink. There is a big difference in the quality of products, a big one,” she says.

Another resident agrees, pointing out that there is a clear difference in quality, as she believes Serbian goods are much higher quality.

“I haven’t noticed any in the stores, nor that any is arriving. We go to the Bosniak neighborhood to buy what we need because there is nothing here. The difference is that our products are better quality. Everything you buy here is low quality, it only lasts a day, and after washing, it is useless. The food quality is terrible,” she says.

Another local resident shares the same view and compares "Plazma" biscuits and other products as an example.

“They are lying, there is no stock, we have nothing, absolutely nothing! We are so disappointed. I refuse to go out of principle. There is a big difference in quality, first and foremost, the difference is in 'Plazma' biscuits and then everything else,” she says.
