Dren village residents: We must resist land taking
Due to Pristina's decision to expropriate over 80 hectares of two cadastral zones - in the Dren and Lesak villages, in private, social, and municipal ownership, a meeting was held today between the village residents and the Serb List representatives.
After the meeting, it was agreed to engage a legal team that would file an appeal against this illegal decision, which was robbing Serbian land with legal violence, and that they would inform the EU Office in Pristina, UNMIK, OSCE, KFOR, and Quint representatives about everything.
Radomir Jovanovic from the Dren village points out that they are satisfied with the decision of Zoran Todic and Igor Simic.
"They are taking away my heritage. I live here with my brothers and our families, we should stay here. We have to resist, terror is terror. We are satisfied with the decision of the president and Mr. Simic, we stand by his decision," Jovanovic said.
Dragica Bisevac says she came with her sister to defend her property because she has no brothers.
"I came with my sister to defend my property. We'll see what happens. The court's decision is not fair, people live off that land," Dragica said.
Let us recall that at the session held on January 16, the Kosovo Government decided to declare real estate in the cadastral zones Dren and Lesak to be of special public interest for the purpose of implementing infrastructure projects.
The decision states that such a thing is necessary for the "Infrastructural projects of public interest" implementation.
By the same decision, the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure Expropriation Department was ordered to initiate real estate expropriation procedures per the Law on Expropriation, in coordination with the competent ministries.
In the third point, it is stated that the Department for Expropriation and the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfer are obliged to implement this decision.
