Nikolic: Decision on the dinar complicates the normal functioning of educational institutions
The director of the elementary school "Staja Markovic" in Strpce, Cedomir Nikolic, emphasizes that the regulation banning the dinar in Kosovo has made the work of schools more difficult, especially because they cannot access the material resources necessary for the normal functioning of educational institutions.
"As everyone knows, we have to collect salaries in central Serbia, which requires not only money but also time. As for income, we in education have good salaries, and they are usually healthy people who can go, but it has a negative impact. However, we can still function. Regarding the funding of schools, we regularly receive material resources into our accounts, but the problem is that we cannot withdraw these funds here, we also have to go to central Serbia for that. Every school, like any other institution, has its demands and problems, and money is necessary for the normal functioning of schools. We have to pay for electricity, internet, fuel. We have a large number of children participating in regional and national competitions, and each of our trips to central Serbia costs," Nikolic said.
He emphasizes that although the situation in education is not easy, the most difficult part is for the most vulnerable population categories.
"A large number of elderly people received pensions at the Post Office, beneficiaries of social assistance, people with disabilities, they are the most vulnerable category. It is not easy for us at school, but it is hardest for those who need help the most," Nikolic adds.
